Hi Chris,

This past spring we started being a drop off location for old and broken cell phones at our greenhouse.  We send them to Dexter, MI and the Troops serving overseas will receive one hour's worth of talk time to call 'home' for each cell phone.
You can check this all out on this website www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com

We were wondering if you would put something on your website site.  On the back of the prayer cards for our Troops that we hand out this is what we have stated:

What do you do with your old/broken cell phones?

Why not turn them into Calling Card minutes for our Troops?

All you have to do is drop your old/broken cell phone off at

The Valley Rainbow Greenhouse
19343 Bennetts Valley Highway
Weedville, PA
(814) 787-7700

We will then send them to Dexter, MI
where your old/broken cell phone will be turned into
one hour of talk time for Troops serving overseas.

Check out their website at

Would you also add something like this?  While at The Valley Rainbow, please don't forget to pick up a free prayer card so you can pray for our Troops.

We officially found out the past two weeks that both of our sons, Matthew and Douglas, will be going to Iraq in January for 18 or more months.  They will first be leaving Sept. 19 to train in Mississippi, then they will be home for 2 weeks in December and then off it Iraq.  This will be Douglas's third time and Matthew's first.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Always a friend and with love,
Maryanne  (Swisher)

Hi there,

My name is Steven Watanabe and I am a Iraq Combat Veteran. I was Stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA as a Cav Scout and served a 15 month tour in Iraq from 2006-07.

I recently started a blog to help our troops and their families. Posts include how to keep from boredom in Iraq/ Afghanistan, Tips on what and how to send care packages to troops overseas, and other ideas to support our men and women stationed stateside and overseas.

As the blog grows I will also be outreaching to fellow veterans and current enlisted troops to see what they have to offer the community. I am going to take their ideas and suggestions and post it on the blog for anyone to see.

I would appreciate any help in the form of ideas or referrals as well.

Thanks for your time and God bless,
Steven Watanabe
